Peer Reviewers
At the Journal of the English Literator Society (JELS), we implement a double-anonymous (double-masked) peer review process. This means that the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review procedure. Following this policy, we do not disclose the names of our reviewers in published issues or on our website. This approach is based on several important principles:
-
Promoting Reviewer Independence: By maintaining anonymity, we create an environment where reviewers can provide honest, unbiased, and constructive feedback without concern for potential personal or professional repercussions.
-
Reducing Conflicts of Interest: Concealing identities helps minimize the risk of conflicts that could arise if the identities of authors or reviewers were known, thereby supporting a fair evaluation process.
-
Upholding the Integrity of Peer Review: Our policy ensures that manuscripts are assessed solely on their scholarly merit, free from outside influence or bias.
-
Adhering to Best Practices in Academic Publishing: Our approach follows established guidelines for ethical publishing, as set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and prioritizes the confidentiality of the peer review process to maintain the integrity of our academic work.
